Kriba (former Newborn Solutions) is thrilled to announce its participation in the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) Conference, where we will be featured as an exhibitor to showcase our groundbreaking technology and present a poster. It is scheduled to take place on November 7th-8th, 2023, at the prestigious British Museum in London. We are honored that our abstract was chosen as one of the top 5 submissions by the Steering Committee.
Muhammad Sidat, a valued collaborator at Kriba, who has been instrumental in the ongoing clinical trial at Maputo General Hospital in Mozambique, will deliver a poster presentation during the conference’s second day at the British Museum. The presentation is titled: “Non-Invasive Meningitis Screening through High-Frequency Transfontenellar Ultrasound: Insights from the UNITED-Meningitis Study in Mozambique”
The UNITED-Meningitis study investigates the potential of high-frequency ultrasonography (HFUS) coupled with deep learning (DL) for the non-invasive screening of neonatal and infant meningitis. This innovative approach aims to address the challenges posed by lumbar punctures in resource-limited settings. Promising interim results indicate a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 86.6% in identifying meningitis cases. Ongoing efforts are focused on enhancing image quality and evaluating treatment response using HFUS+DL. This technology represents a significant step toward faster and non-invasive meningitis screening for young children and it will have a transformative impact on healthcare.
